Indian Institute of Chemical Biology was established in 1935 and at that time, the name of the institute was the Indian Institute of Experimental Medicine. In 1956, the institute becomes under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), and later in 1982, the name of the institute was changed to the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (also called CSIR-IICB).
This institute is fully dedicated to research and development in the field of Cancer Biology & Inflammatory Disorder, Cell Biology & Physiology, Chemistry, Infectious Diseases & Immunology, Molecular & Human Genetics, and Structural Biology & Bioinformatics. It has lots of industrial collaboration both at the national and international levels. The major academic program of IICB is the Ph.D. program. IICB offers a huge infrastructure for research and development.
